<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

Intelligence stage of higher education development is characterized by the widespread introduction of digital technologies, among which artificial intelligence holds a key place. In our opinion, the main problem is the lack of regulation regarding the use of neural networks in the educational process at universities. Students have begun using neural networks spontaneously — a phenomenon that can be termed «shadow digitalization» (often very primitive, based on chatbots in messengers). Universities instinctively responded with attempts at prohibition, introducing various systems to detect «plagiarism», although it is now obvious that the use of artificial intelligence does not constitute direct borrowing. Instructors find themselves in a difficult situation, lacking criteria for assessing the creative work of students who use neural networks. Based on the experience of participating (as a supervisor of graduation theses) in the Yandex.Education project with 11 universities, as well as an analysis of secondary data from Russia and abroad, the author proposes a personal methodology for implementing artificial intelligence as a research tool in the educational process. To achieve this, the following three-layer methodological model is proposed. Layer 1: Artificial Intelligence as an «intellectual assistant» at the preparatory stage. The tasks include generating and narrowing down topic ideas, preliminary literature review, selecting keywords, and structuring the plan. Layer 2: Artificial Intelligence as an «analysis tool» at the research stage. The tasks involve primary processing of qualitative and quantitative data, for example, categorizing interviews, basic statistical analysis, and visualization. Layer 3: Artificial Intelligence as a «critical reviewer» at the writing and verification stage. Here, the tasks will be checking the logic of presentation, style, identifying gaps in argumentation, suggesting improvements to formulations, and controlling unintentional plagiarism.
