<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

The article analyses the possibilities of the institutional approach to solve the economic problems of modernity. The author believes that human economic behaviour is substantially predetermined by the norms and rules that exist in society. Based on the use of general scientific research methods, an attempt was made to conduct a value and semantic analysis of institutional development. The peculiarities and directions of influence of interdisciplinary relations on institutional economics were identified and described. First, jurisprudence determines the formal regulation of the main spheres of human life. The conclusion that the independence of law enforcement from the affiliation of its participants to any social groups is a guarantee of successful development of the national economy is confirmed. If this is not the case, the most progressive reforms can be futile. Second, ethical standards. Based on a comparative analysis of the dominant types of behaviour of transport service users at different times, the conclusion is made about the role of moral restraints in regulating economic phenomena. Thirdly, psychology, which "permeates the entire fabric" of economic relations. The author suggests that the digital transformation, which has changed production, technological and managerial processes, has had little effect on consumer behaviour. Due to the inertia of informal institutions, its fundamental mechanisms have not undergone any changes, being limited to the expansion of the product range, a slight shift in the structure of needs and individual habits. Fourth, a sociology that describes people's economic activity as a group and collective phenomenon. It has been established that the development of economic institutions today is due to the expansion of social ties while their density and intensity are reduced. Fifth, history, which describes the development of human society and the changes that have taken place in the relevant norms and rules. In addition, the paper shows that the tools of institutional economics, have significant explanatory power, and provide opportunities for effective managerial decision-making.
