<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

The article analyzes some aspects of one of the most notable theories describing possible scenarios for the development of the most developed countries of the world, the concept of the «coming dark age» by the Italian mathematician and writer Roberto Vacca. The author analyzed the key provisions of this theory, namely the concept of a «large system», its structure and scenarios for a possible collapse. Considerable attention is paid to the interpretation of R. Vacca of the role and place of information in the modern world, the key provisions of his theory concerning the problems of using data in modern management are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the proof of the theoretical provisions of R. Vacca on the actual material. The problem of using the latest tools for analyzing information in modern management is also touched upon. The author studied the views of the scientist on the problems of education and training in the context of modern personnel management. Actual problems of training and retraining of personnel were studied in comparison and comparison with the educational practices of the middle ages. The objects of the comparative analysis, performed on the specific material of the sources, were both medieval universities and intra-shop educational models. The article paid attention to the problems of expert evaluation of knowledge developed in the work of R. Vacca, the scientist's proposals on new ways of preserving information in the conditions of the «coming dark age». The author also studied the specific proposal of the scientist to mitigate the negative consequences of the onset of this expected period. The conceptual provisions of R. Vacca were analyzed in a broad historiographic context, the works of specialists in management theory and the history of economic development. For greater heuristic usefulness, individual theses of the Italian scientist chosen by us were analyzed in comparison with the most popular concepts that also appeal to the middle ages, namely, the «new handicraft economy» and the «digital middle ages».
