<abstract xml:lang="ru">

      <trans-abstract xml:lang="en">

Energy transition projects face global challenges that are common to the engineering and construction industry as a whole at the present stage. However, in addition to this, they also have additional and specific problems, since most of the technologies used, with the exception of solar, nuclear and wind energy, are either new, developing or have not been used on a large scale before. In addition, projects often involve many more stakeholders and require the management of a wide range of diverse interactions. All this necessitates the consideration of various risks and specific features in construction contracts. Materials and methods: a comprehensive approach based on the analysis of theoretical and empirical data was used in the research process. The information base of the article consists of domestic and foreign publications, reports of international organisations (including consulting firms and law firms), as well as regulatory and legal acts. Methods of comparative and factor analysis, systematisation and grouping, synthesis and deduction were used. Results: The article identifies the features, distinctive characteristics and complexities of construction contracts in the field of energy transition. Attention is focused on market dynamics in the development of alternative energy in terms of contracts concluded, projected growth and the countries where the largest investments are based. Special attention is paid to the risks and threats that accompany the execution of these contracts. The types of contracts that can be used in green energy projects are also described. Key aspects, provisions and changes that should be included in a construction contract for the construction of alternative energy facilities are systematised. Conclusions: Given the challenges facing the global engineering and construction industry, owners/investors, contractors and supply chain participants, together with the service sector that supports the industry, need to review their procedures for drafting and concluding contracts in the field of green transition. This will ensure that they are completed on time and within budget, and will also guarantee that energy facilities are commissioned in accordance with requirements and plans.
